Resolution - MCP Project 12

I am participating in MCP Project 12 this year!  Each month there will be an assigned theme to ponder and capture "on film".  If you would like to participate, you can visit the website here: MCP Project 12.

This month's theme is Resolution.

I just graduated from the University of Alaska Southeast last month with an Associates of Applied Science in Business Administration.  It took me three and a half years and it was difficult...but very worth it.  In the process of gaining wisdom...I also gained 20 lbs., by sitting in my house doing homework all day at my computer.  I live in Hawaii and haven't had the chance to really get out and enjoy it!  My interpretation of this months theme is to be more active and to get out and really enjoy the outdoors, and Hawaii.  Hiking is something I really enjoy is also a way for me to be more active!  These pictures are of Diamond Head Crater and Dillingham Airfield.  Both of these hikes were challenging to me, but I was able to make it to the top!

Rusty & Kristin

I had a lot of fun with this family!  The little one was the biggest ham and made the shoot fun and challenging. =)  I always look for a good challenge...especially one with dimples!  Dad is deploying soon and they wanted to get in a few family pictures before he leaves.

Individual Sports Cards

This is something I learned how to do recently.  I found a tutorial online that was recommended by Scott Kelby...he is awesome by the way...and I really like the effect!

In this first one, I downloaded a free texture background from the internet.  I ended up not liking the download, because it was not a great resolution...so for the second and third ones, I did a photoshoot at Home Depot to get some better quality textures!  I spent 45 minutes in the store taking pictures of flooring, counter top, tile, and other building supplies.

The textures on the girls's cards is from Home Depot!

Pumpkin Patch

I don't usually take the chance to have a photo shoot with my own family, but this fun pumpkin patch was just perfect!

Clint & Emily

This was my very first session with clients I had never met beforehand!  Loved meeting you two!  Such a great shoot!  Clint was on his way home from a long deployment with the Navy.  Emily came to see him early before his homecoming on the mainland.  I learned from this shoot is that when there is a toddler in the pictures, I need to remember to bring something to catch their attention!  Baby would look up whenever the flash went off, and then promptly look back down...before I could get the flash to go off again!  I made it work though. =)

I thought I'd add this to show how I "create" some of my photos!  I don't always get the shot I want, but I can usually make a great shot out of two or three frames!
